I sure love Josett. She
is such a good Mommy to her two sweet little kids. Juliette is such a sweetheart and princess. Where we were there, Juliette got Savannah to
be a queen and she was the princess.
Oliver and Eli liked to poke each other, and eat each others' food. Josett taught me how to make hummus and
salsa. It was Yum-yum. We
also got to do some pretty fun things while in Spokane. On Friday, August 14, Josett and I drove up
to Mineral Ridge to run the 3 mile loop.
We then headed over to the Hiawatha Trail where we meet the Sanders and
biked 13 miles. I sure to love that
trial. We also rock-climbed Dad's new
favorite rocks, called Cliff Drive. We
hiked Big Rock, for Josett's first time.
And the rest of the week was full of dressing up, eating good food, seeing
cousins, and going swimming. I love
living close to Mom and Dad.
The very next weekend, we headed off for Sandpoint to see my cousin, Brian Taylor, get married. It was a hippy wedding, and very interesting. Before the wedding our little family camped at Round Lake, hiked, took the chair-lift up to Schweitzer Mountain, and hiked some more. We then camped at the wedding itself and enjoyed all of the Taylors. The wedding itself was very interesting. An Indian married them who bounded their arms together, sprinkled water on them, prayed in his native tongue, and had a prayer circle.
On sad thing that happened this August was fires. There were too many to count. Our valley became full of smoke for a good week. 51 homes in Kamiah were burned. Grangville was full of smoke. Our air quality became so bad that they cancelled sports and all outdoor recreation. It was a sad time.
Then on August 25th my little twins started Kindergarten. I still can't believe it. Their teacher is Mrs. Pettijohn, who has been teaching for 31 years! She is from Alabama and I truly like her. On the 2nd day of school the twins went in to decorate their lockers. Mrs. Pettijohn saw that they had a picture of Christ in their locker. She looked at Savannah and asked, "Do you love Jesus?"
Savannah looked confused but replied by shaking her head, yes.
Mrs. Pettijohn got down on her level and whispered in her ear, " Your teacher, Mrs. Pettyjohn, loves Jesus too."
Ever since that day, Savannah has really liked her teacher. I am so thankful for this town and that we can be religious.
Some other fun events over August were: Picking vegetables for Sister Howell's garden, having a baby shower for Kindel, going to the Cobi Callett concert, and of course palying at the river and aquatic center.
August also had other adventures. Alli and I put on a baby shower for Kindle. We have loved being visiting teachers together and serving our sisters. Sister Howell had the kids over to pick vegetables out of her garden. We got about 18 cucumbers for her. We babysat James King for 4 days. He is such a sweet little boy. And we visited the river A LOT.
