St Patricks Day 2014

After Valentine's Day the first questions out of the twins' mouth was, "What is the next holiday?"

So, we have been prepping for St. Patrick's Day for over a whole month.  You might think there isn't a lot to do for St. Patrick's Day. WRONG!!  This year I have learned there is a lot more then green and pinching.

The twins and I had a lot of fun reading and learning about leprechauns and St. Patrick. We go to  make rainbow paintings.  We educated ourselves about  leprechaun traps and then made our own.  We cut our shamrocks for the house and make shamrock shirts.  We made a shamrock chain that counted down to the "big day".  We made shamrock sugar cookies.  AND we planned a GREEN lunch with our all friends from church.

On St. Patrick's Day, the kids were lucky enough to eat Lucky Charms for breakfast.  We then dressed in green.  Savannah had pajamas on that were green with dots.   She said to me, "Mom I need to leave my PJ pants on cause they are green!" Yes, our outfits might have looked a little funny, but none of us got pinched.

Tiffany was kind enough to host our green lunch, and we got to eat some interesting green foods.  After lunch we went to Publix's.  The main reason for this shopping trip was to pinch people not wearing green.   I think we pinched around 8 older couples not wearing green.  They were all good sports about getting pinched, and most all of them forgot it was a St. Patrick's Day.  Then we came home and found that the leprechaun had visited our house and set off our traps. There were green footprints all over the house, chairs were knocked down, food thrown on the floor, a trail of skittles went throughout the house, the toilet was green, and all the traps had a personal note from the leprechaun.

I thought the twins were going to LOVE it.  But they were mad!  They kept telling me he was a naughty leprechaun  for making such a mess. Before I could take pictures of the mess, they were picking up the skittles and wiping the footprints away.  But they loved their personal notes from the St. Patrick Day leprechaun and kept them to show Daddy.

Time with Daddy

Leif has a good rotation this month and we have superior weather.  We therefore got to enjoy some nice parks and beach with Daddy.  Our days in Florida are getting shorter so we are trying to enjoy all Florida's pleasures.   The twins loved watching a movie at Clearwater Beach.  Leif loved waking the pier at McGrough Nature Park.  Eli loved his first swing ride.  I loved watching the sunset.  It has been a wonderful couple of weekends.

new to you

Micah has new rain boots and he is loving every minute of rain.  I love watching him jump in the puddles and run through the stream of water.  He is a true boy.

Leif has a new beard and he is loving every minute of it.  He likes to tease the kids as he scratches their faces.  He is a true teaser.

4 months old

Eli is now 4 month old.  And he is sure growing.  He is now 14 pounds and 5 ounces.  He is 25 inches tall and right on track with all his milestones.  He LOVES tummy time and is so cute holding up his head.   He loves holding onto his toys and playing under his butterfly.  He loves sucking on his fingers.  He is almost sleeping through the night.  He smiles and laughs.  We love him so much.

Pine Wood Durby

We attended our first ever Pine Wood Durby.  Our twins had so much fun.  We are really enjoying being the cub scout leaders.

Things Micah Says

The kids and I were walking home from the gym.   Micah sees a new patch of flowers and says, "FLOWERS... there are seed under the flowers.. they are white flowers."

We are reading a book about horses.  There is a picture of a white horse with black spots.  Micah points to the horse and says, "Mommy it's a Cow-Horse."

Leif is getting ready to cut his hair in the bathroom.  Micah looks into the bathroom and asks Leif, "Daddy are you going to cut your little hairs?"

It is raining.  We get out our umbrellas.  Micah then asks me.  "Mommy, can you hand me the stem of the umbrella?"

We are talking about service and how it's good to do nice things for others.  Micah turns to Savannah and says, "I am going to buy you a Minnie Mouse. ... OK.... Cause you like Minnie Mouse."

Friend Night

Leif worked nights on Friday and Saturday.  Normally when he works nights it is an excuse for me to throw a girls night.  BUT then I thought it would be just as fun to have a "friend night" for Micah & Savannah.

I had both of them pick one friend.  For the week leading up to "friend night" we planned.  Together the twins and I decided that we would make pizza, play and watch a movie.  They were so excited when their friends, Cannon and Noah, came over.   And their friends were really excited when the mom's left.

It ended up being a really fun night.  We watched Toy Story, had pepperoni pizza and played cars.

Baby Showers

There are  A LOT of pregnant woman in our ward.  And the fun thing about it is... they are all my great friends.  It is so fun to be pregnant with other and then to have little babies together.   I am just sad that our kids wont grow up together. I happened to be the first one to have a baby, but now all of EIi's friends are coming!!

Yvonne and I threw a baby shower for Jenny and Jodi.  It is both of their 3rd kids.  Yet, everyone needs a shower, and it's a great reason to have a girls night out.  I really think the invite turned out great.

sprinklers

Is it rain?  NO... it's SPRINKLERS!!!

Rainbows

The twins are now TOTALLY into holidays.  They constantly ask what the next holiday is AND what we get to do on that day.  SO... we have been preparing for St. Patrick's Day.

I love that both Micah and Savannah like to do crafts. ( Maybe it's because I am always doing it with them.)  They both enjoy painting and don't want my help anymore.  Below are our rainbows. I did not help either kids.  I did make the pot for Micah but besides that they did the WHOLE painting on their owns.  I was so proud.  And so were they.
