St Patricks Day 2014

After Valentine's Day the first questions out of the twins' mouth was, "What is the next holiday?"

So, we have been prepping for St. Patrick's Day for over a whole month.  You might think there isn't a lot to do for St. Patrick's Day. WRONG!!  This year I have learned there is a lot more then green and pinching.

The twins and I had a lot of fun reading and learning about leprechauns and St. Patrick. We go to  make rainbow paintings.  We educated ourselves about  leprechaun traps and then made our own.  We cut our shamrocks for the house and make shamrock shirts.  We made a shamrock chain that counted down to the "big day".  We made shamrock sugar cookies.  AND we planned a GREEN lunch with our all friends from church.

On St. Patrick's Day, the kids were lucky enough to eat Lucky Charms for breakfast.  We then dressed in green.  Savannah had pajamas on that were green with dots.   She said to me, "Mom I need to leave my PJ pants on cause they are green!" Yes, our outfits might have looked a little funny, but none of us got pinched.

Tiffany was kind enough to host our green lunch, and we got to eat some interesting green foods.  After lunch we went to Publix's.  The main reason for this shopping trip was to pinch people not wearing green.   I think we pinched around 8 older couples not wearing green.  They were all good sports about getting pinched, and most all of them forgot it was a St. Patrick's Day.  Then we came home and found that the leprechaun had visited our house and set off our traps. There were green footprints all over the house, chairs were knocked down, food thrown on the floor, a trail of skittles went throughout the house, the toilet was green, and all the traps had a personal note from the leprechaun.

I thought the twins were going to LOVE it.  But they were mad!  They kept telling me he was a naughty leprechaun  for making such a mess. Before I could take pictures of the mess, they were picking up the skittles and wiping the footprints away.  But they loved their personal notes from the St. Patrick Day leprechaun and kept them to show Daddy.
