Prayer

Savannah has a small stuffed lamb that she calls, "Lamie".  She loves her lamie and sleeps with it almost every night.  One morning she comes running into my room and says, "Lamie all gone".  I calmed her down and together we started to look for her special lamb.  We looked in the toy box.  We looked in the stuffed animal bin.  We looked under both hers and Micah's bed.  We looked in her closet.  We looked in the kitchen.  We even looked in the back patio.  Her lamb was truly gone.

When I can't find things I always say a prayer, and I realized that this as a teaching moment about prayer.  So I told Savannah that we were going to say a prayer and ask Heavenly Father to help us find her lamb.  I put sweet Savannah on my lap and together we said a prayer.  We asked for His help in finding the missing lamb.  As we ended our prayer I told Savannah that Jesus was now going to help us find her "Lamie".  But deep inside I was very nervous.  Together we had just checked the whole house and couldn't find lamie anywhere.  I really didn't know where else this lamb could be, and I didn't want Savannah to think that prayers didn't work.   Or in other words my faith wasn't the strongest.

But, the first thing I did when we got up from our prayer was take the mattress off of Savannah's bed.  We rechecked under her bed and didn't find anything.  I then took the mattress of Micah's bed.  And again we didn't see anything under the bed.  As I was putting the mattress back on, I saw something fuzzy in teh corner between the wall and frame of the bed.  It was her Lamie!!!!  I pointed it out to Savannah and she was so happy.  As she was hugging her special animal, I told her that Jesus helped us find the lamb.   Together we thanked Heavenly Father and Jesus.

I learned two things throughout all of this.  First, the Lord does hear our prayers.  He know that a little lamb is very important to a little girl.  He know a mother has faith enough to prayer.  And He will answer our prayers.   Second, Micah must have purposely put her lamb in-between his bed frame and the wall.  Therefore my boy isn't as perfect as I thought.
